Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home Visitation Policy COVID-19

Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home will facilitate in-person visitation as per the Department of Health Guidelines. In-person visits will generally take place outdoors, weather permitting or in a well-ventilated indoor designated area and are available by appointment only. Window visits, video calls, and Compassionate Care visits are also available to all Residents.

Should a Resident or Staff Member test positive for COVID-19, Residents and Family Members will be notified via telephone call and/or email. At that time, visitation will be restricted until Resident and Staff testing is done as per Department of Health Guidelines. Another notification will be sent out when in-person visits are permitted once again.

All visitors will be actively screened and restricted from visiting if necessary. These restrictions are consistent with those being implemented across the country, and are as follows:

  • Has signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat;
  • In the last 14 days, has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID- 19, or under investigation for COVID-19, or are ill with respiratory illness;
  • Unvaccinated domestic travelers who have not recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months – These individuals are recommended to get tested 3-5 days after arrival in New York (non-mandated self-quarantine for 7 days if tested on day 3-5, otherwise 10 days) and avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe disease for 14 days regardless of test result.
  • Unvaccinated international travelers who have not recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months – These individuals are recommended to get tested 3-5 days after arrival in New York (non-mandated self-quarantine for 7 days if tested on day 3-5, otherwise 10 days) and avoid contact with people at higher risk for severe disease for 14 days regardless of test.
  • Resides in a community where community-based spread of COVID-19 is occurring.

Staff members continue to be tested as directed.
