INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE - MAY 9, 2023
Since our last message, we have had no residents or staff members test positive for COVID-19 or have had any respiratory symptoms.
Since April 2020, We have had 0 residents or staff members with new-onset respiratory symptoms that have occurred within 72 hours of each other. Since April 2020, We have had 434 Residents and Staff members combined test positive for COVID-19.
Effective Monday, March 27, 2023, Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home will no longer require proof of a negative COVID-19 test to visit. For the safety of our residents, staff, and visitors, we ask that all visitors adhere to our Infection Control practices, practice proper hand hygiene and wear appropriate PPE as directed by the facility while visiting. Masks must still be worn while visiting.
Although testing is no longer mandatory, our main priority continues to be keeping our residents, staff, and visitor safe. We ask that if you exhibit any signs of COVID-19 such as Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting or Diarrhea, that you refrain from visiting until you are symptom-free. In addition, if you have been exposed to COVID-19, we ask that you please test prior to visiting. Posters with these symptoms as well as COVID 19 awareness information are posted throughout the facility for your reference.
Testing kits will continue to be available while supplies last should you wish to continue to test prior to visiting.
The COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 Bivalent Booster, as well as the Influenza Vaccine are all available to all residents. We strongly urge all Residents to take advantage of the opportunity to be fully vaccinated and up to date by receiving all recommended doses of the COVID 19 vaccine as well as the COVID 19 booster and Influenza vaccine.

Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home strives to protect and preserve the personal property of each of our residents. We recommend all items be labeled or marked with resident’s name for easy identification.
It is very important that all clothing and other personal items be listed on the inventory check list. Please notify the Staff of any items brought into the facility and any items taken out of the facility so the inventory check list can be updated and items can be labeled by the facility.
