STATEWIDE TRANSFORMATION GRANTS ~ Statewide III and Statewide IV

STATEWIDE GRANTS

To enhance Resident safety and provide increased Resident Satisfaction, Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home has applied for Statewide Transformation Grants.  

STATEWIDE III (Approved)

UPDATED FOOD PANTRIES ON EACH FLOOR

The dining experience will be enhanced as the traditional dining room will be transformed into a more state-of-the-art dining area where residents can enjoy their meals.

BMS SYSTEM UPGRADE

A Building Management System (BMS) is a computer-based system that monitors and controls the building's mechanical and electrical systems. Advantages include: Energy efficiency, monitor building systems in real-time and comfortable temperatures.

EMERGENCY OUTLETS IN EVERY RESIDENT ROOM

Easily identifiable Emergency red electrical outlets installed in every resident room connected to the backup generator operational during power outages or emergencies and ensuring that critical equipment remains operational.

SECURITY CAMERA UPGRADE

Upgraded camera system will allow better monitoring of areas throughout the building, increase Security, and prevent patient elopement.

RESIDENT SAFETY EQUIPMENT

High quality Vitals Cart, Touchless Forehead Scanner, Lifters with Scales, Defibrillators, Telemetry Monitor, Wheelchair scales to enhance resident care.

CALL BELL UPGRADE

An upgrade to the existing outdated Nurse Call Bell System will enhance communication between residents and the nursing home staff to strengthen the nursing home’s ability to address patient needs and concerns promptly and effectively.

PATIENT LOUNGE AREA FURNITURE

Residents will enjoy lounges furnished with carefully selected furniture that will provide them with a more home-like environment.

STATEWIDE IV (Submitted ~ awaiting approval)

PIPED IN WALL OXYGEN

Piped-in wall oxygen in every Resident Room will be readily available in emergencies and a continuous supply is assured.

WANDER GUARD RESIDENT SAFETY SYSTEM

Upgrade to current Resident Safety System.  Designed to enhance safety of Residents.

AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS

Automatic Sliding Doors will be installed at Tunnel and in Garden Area for enhanced access control and allow Residents to independently access the outdoor Garden.

NEW FURNITURE FOR ALL RESIDENT ROOMS

Residents will enjoy their rooms furnished with carefully selected furniture that will provide them with a more home-like environment.

WOUND VAC MACHINES & MATTRESSES

Specialized wound vac machines and mattresses will aid in prevention and treatment of wounds.

OT KITCHEN UPGRADE

Transform current training kitchen into a more homelike environment to aid in training of residents to return home.

MEDICATION REFRIGERATORS 

State of the art medication refrigerators with built in narcotic cabinets.

INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE

This is a message from Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home

Please be advised that effective, Monday, June 5, 2023, the wearing of masks, or use of source control will no longer be required while visiting our building.

However, you will be required to wear a mask when:

Number 1. You have a Respiratory infection or are ill and experiencing Symptoms such as cough or shortness of breath.

Number 2.     You recently had close contact with someone with COVID infection.  In this case visitors must wear a mask when visiting for the next 10 days after exposure. 

Number 3. You are visiting a resident with respiratory illness or in an area of the building where COVID or other respiratory outbreak is experienced.  Door signage will be posted on the resident's room to remind visitors to wear their MASK and or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before entering. 

Number 4. It is recommended by public health authorities.

In addition, if you are suspected or confirmed with COVID, please postpone in-person visitation until at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and at least 24 hours have passed since last fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and Symptoms such as cough, or shortness of breath have improved.

This information is posted throughout the building for your reference.

RESIDENT CLOTHING AND PERSONAL PROPERTY

Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home strives to protect and preserve the personal property of each of our residents.  We recommend all items be labeled or marked with resident’s name for easy identification.

It is very important that all clothing and other personal items be listed on the inventory check list.  Please notify the Staff of any items brought into the facility and any items taken out of the facility so the inventory check list can be updated and items can be labeled by the facility.

COVID VACCINE AND BIVALENT BOOSTER , INFLUENZA, AND PNEUMONIA VACCINES AVAILABLE TO ALL RESIDENTS

With the uptick of COVID-19 cases, all residents of Jamaica Hospital Nursing Home are encouraged to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and bivalent booster.  The COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine - doses 1 and 2, and Bivalent  are all available to every resident as well as the influenza and pneumonia vaccines.
